The most beautiful sandy beaches in Malta
1. Għajn Tuffieħa next to Golden Bay
You will find three sandy beaches in Golden Bay. Our favorite is Għajn Tuffieħa. Surrounded by cliffs, it offers an entirely natural and beautiful view. Moreover, do not hesitate to venture into the dunes covered with vegetation and climb to the top, you will have one of the most beautiful views of the island.

To get there, go down the stairs next to the parking lot and the Riviera bus stop.
2. Golden Bay
Golden Bay is more touristy than Għajn Tuffieħa, especially because of the hotel complex (Radisson Blu Ressort & Spa) built right next door. It is nevertheless pleasant for a swim or a farniente session on the beach when it is not too crowded.
It is possible to practice nautical activities. This beach is easily accessible and has a parking lot.

3. Gnejna Bay
The third beach in the area, Gnejna Bay, has a lot of charm. You can sit on the sandy beach or on the rocks to the right of it. Take the bus (stop Gnejna) or a rental car (parking is available) to get there.

4. Mellieħa
This sandy beach in the north of the island resembles our beaches on the French Riviera. All in length with small barracks for French fries and refreshments, it is very pleasant even if a little crowded.

Mellieħa beach is very easy to get to. It is served by several buses. If you’re staying in Mellieħa, you can even walk there.
5. Pretty Bay
If most of the sandy beaches are located in the north of Malta, it is possible to find one in the south: Pretty Bay. Located in Birżebbuġa, this sandy beach is surrounded by restaurants, a children’s playground and a beach volleyball court.
You might be surprised, however, by the fact that it overlooks the Freeport, Malta’s commercial port, on the right. We find that this atypical view has its charm. It’s up to you to make up your own mind!
To get there, take a bus to Birżebbuġa. If you rent a car, you will find parking spaces near the beach.

6. Paradise Bay
Located in the north of the island, this small beach faces Ċirkewwa, where the ferry terminal to Gozo is located. Despite its name, it is not so heavenly: very touristy and crowded in summer, close to the ferry terminal. It is nevertheless pleasant to come there out of season to appreciate its tranquility, far from the tumult of the city.
Its off-center location makes it a little less accessible than the other beaches. It is served by a single bus, which goes to Ċirkewwa. The best way to get there is by rental car.

The sandy beaches, although beautiful, are often crowded in summer. So why not try the rocky coves in Malta? Quieter, they offer a heavenly setting for swimming and snorkeling.
7. Saint Peter’s Pool
Saint Peter’s Pool is a beach where you can jump off the cliffs (about 5 meters). This atypical place, located not far from Marsaxlokk, is a bit difficult to access. This beach is quite remote, so bring enough water because there is little shade and no refreshment stands. There is no sand, it is a beach made of rock.

Saint Peter’s Pool is a 30-minute walk from Marsaxlokk. If you don’t want to walk, My Little Malta recommends taking a tourist boat from Marsaxlokk harbor. The opportunity to discover this fishing village and the coast from the sea!
8. The beaches of Sliema
All along Sliema, the rock is arranged for you to swim. There are many ladders that go down into the sea. The advantage of these beaches is that they are exposed to the sun longer than the others and are located not far from the heart of the island.

The rocky beaches of Sliema are very easy to access. Walk along the waterfront and take one of the stairs down to the rock.

If the beaches of Gozo are very crowded, they are nevertheless beautiful.
9. Ramla Bay
Ramla Bay is our favorite beach in Gozo. Its ochre colored sand makes it particularly beautiful. It is accessible by bus and has a parking lot. At the end of the beach is a cave on the side of the cliff, accessible by a small path: Tal-Mixta Cave. The panoramic view that it offers is really worth the detour.

10. San Blas Bay
The beach of San Blas Bay in Gozo is also very beautiful. Its ochre colored sand offers a beautiful contrast with the turquoise water of the sea. This beach is accessible on foot or by 4×4 via a sloping road.

11. Wied il-Ghasri
Located in the north of Gozo, this small pebbled cove is reminiscent of the calanques of south-eastern France. It is reached by a staircase dug in the rock.
As this beach in Gozo is a bit remote, the best way to get there is by car. You can also take the bus to Żebbuġ and walk for 15 minutes to reach the cove.

12. Inland Sea
Located next to Dwejra Bay, Inland Sea is a good place to swim. It is an interior bay surrounded by a large rock wall. A tunnel dug in this wall connects it to the sea. Inland Sea is the starting point for a beautiful boat trip to Dwejra Bay.

13. Hondoq ir-Rummien
This small pebble beach in Gozo is popular with the locals. It offers a beautiful view of the islands of Comino and Malta. It has a snack bar, deckchair rental service and water sports activities.
Hondoq ir-Rummien is accessible by car and has a parking lot. If you don’t have a car, you will have to walk through the countryside of Gozo.

14. Dahlet Qorrot
Dahlet Qorrot is a small authentic gravel beach in Gozo. Its small colorful boathouses add charm to the place. Algae are sometimes present. It is possible to make a beautiful walk in the surroundings. If you are not a hiker, the best way to get there is by car.

15. Mgarr ix-Xini
This small cove near Mgarr in Gozo looks like a cove. The restaurant on the beach is popular with visitors. Since Mgarr ix-Xini beach is located in the Gozitan countryside, you may need a rental car to get there.

The best beaches and coves of Comino
16. Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is one of the most famous and popular beaches in Malta. It must be said that with its turquoise waters, it offers a heavenly setting. The Blue Lagoon is one of the most beautiful natural sites in Malta.
It is accessible by boat from Cirkewwa and Ramla Tal-Bir.
However, the place is a victim of its success and is crowded in summer.

17. Santa Marija Beach
Santa Marija Creek is accessible by a trail from Blue Lagoon. This small sandy beach offers a more tranquil setting for swimming in Comino. It takes about 20 minutes to walk.

18. San Niklaw Beach
Located on the northern shore of Comino, this pretty little beach is less crowded than the Blue Lagoon. It is accessible on foot by a path.
