Fomm ir-Riħ: the quiet beach that has to be earned

To tell you the truth, we hesitated a bit before telling you about this beach… Well yes, if Fomm ir-Riħ is so quiet, it is because it is not very well known. But good plans are shared between friends!

How to get to Fomm ir-Riħ?

Fomm ir-Riħ, so it’s a small haven of peace on an island overcrowded in summer… that is deserved! Of course, you can approach it by bus, until the village of Bahrija or even better, by car but the way will not stop there, it will be necessary to continue on foot. Those who like hiking will enjoy taking the small and sometimes steep paths that lead to this white pebble beach with translucent water. The others (especially those who came in flip-flops)… will be happy to arrive!

The beach itself has nothing exceptional except its still wild side, but the view that we have from it, or when we are in the middle of the water, is breathtaking!

To be planned to spend the day on Fomm ir-Riħ Bay:

  • Water (lots of it)
  • Sneakers
  • An umbrella or at least a hat, there is no shade
  • Sunscreen
  • Mask and snorkel
  • Something to eat (if you have a hypoglycemic crisis, it will be difficult to get back to the village…)

The return from the beach

This is where it gets complicated. Because to get there, that was fine, well we would not bring the grandmother certainly, but as long as we were in good health, no problem. On the way back, we warn you, it goes up quite a bit and under 35°C after a day of snorkeling and sunbathing, it stings a bit!

In short, I recommend Fomm ir-Riħ, but without granny and without flip-flops!
