A family trip to the beach in Malta
The perfect opportunity to relax while your child builds sandcastles. For this, go to the beautiful sandy beaches in the north of the island. The three most suitable for children are: Mellieħa Bay (very gentle slope into the sea and easy access), Gnejna Bay (very popular among Maltese, large parking lot) and Golden Bay (recessed and very pleasant). These beaches have the advantage of being supervised during the summer. In the south there is also a large, child-friendly beach in downtown Birżebbuġa with crystal clear water that shows the spectacle of the commercial port and its cranes in the distance.

The boat has an air-conditioned cabin where little ones can play safely during the hot summer months, as well as a relaxing solarium area on the upper deck for mothers in search of vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin!
Practical, you can stay on board or come back just after having taken a dip, as the boat does not leave its landing place in Comino. The island is indeed very rocky and not very practical for walks with children under 4 years old (avoid strollers, unless you have a real buggy).
A breath of fresh air in a playground
Most towns have a children’s playground, and Sliema has two (one in Tigné, on the sea side, and one just before St Julians). You will also find the park of Ta’Qali (center of the island, near Mosta) with water games very appreciable in hot season. In the south at Marsascala, children will enjoy the multitude of games at the “Family Parc”. Close to the National Aquarium of Malta in St Pauls Bay, a beautiful “Jules Verne ” playground with an impressive view of the bay will delight the little ones after the marine discoveries made during the unmissable visit to the aquarium.
A family day at MediterraneoPark
This park is open 7 days a week all year round and can be a great idea for a family outing. You can see parrots, sea lions, dolphins and reptiles. It is even possible to swim with the dolphins, but advance booking is recommended for this activity. The park is located in Bahar-Ic-Caghaq (just north of Pembroke).
Visit of the ornithological park
Located just before St Paul’s Bay in Salina, this park is home to over 200 species of birds and other animals, something for nature lovers to enjoy. Your children will be able to marvel at the pink flamingos, pelicans, parrots and many other varieties of birds as well as mammals and reptiles. A little family fun at Splash and Fun Park
Open only during the summer period, from the end of May to the end of October, this park is located at the seaside in Bahar-Ic-Caghaq. Useful information for family vacations:
If possible, it is best to stay in Malta with your children in spring, early summer or autumn (avoid July and August especially because of the sometimes high temperatures). In addition, accommodation prices are lower and tourist sites are less crowded.
